Always ask for a "Manual J Load Calculation" and make sure you look at it! Most HVAC companies don't take the time to do this and a system that is too large or small will literally cost you thousands more over the life of the system

Installation Quality

The quality of the installation is the single biggest factor in the reliability of your system.  Taking shortcuts will result in the life of your new unit being cut short. Ask for references and installation methods!

Warranty

Make sure the company absolutely stands behind their work. You should be getting a minimum of a 10-Year warranty with a new system and it needs to be registered with the manufacturer!
